I don't know what bug crawled up inside me, but I got the urge to run tonight. I told my self (and COACH would be proud), that I was going to do about 4 miles. So, after getting home from my son Brennan's track meet at Dallas Center/Grimes, I donned my running gear and headed out.
There was a new moon tonight which meant little to no light out on the roads outside of town. I had a little help though from a flashing LED arm band I got from Chris Donahoe at Athletic Based Solutions here in town. It is reflective and has settings for either flashing or solid lit LEDs. It did the trick.
Since I was looking for a 4 miler, I went to my training site, www.runningahead.com. I have a few nice 4+ mile routes plotted out around town, and decided on the CQ to 92 & Back course. The Madison County Milers use Car Quest as a routine starting point, so that is also the start of this course. The course is a 4.4 mile course and you can view it by accessing the Training Stats tab on the top of my page and searching my courses links.
The weather was just about perfect (sans moon), and it did not take long to work up a sweat. I kept my mp3 player cranking out the tunes the entire time. When I finished, I checked my watch and found I had finished my 4.4 miles in 41:00. Not great, but not bad either. Pulse was 176 and blood sugar was 121. For some reason, I have an urge to run tomorrow morning.
Good night all,
myk
