Whew! Interesting week off. Per federal guidelines, I took a week off out of the bank (much needed, I might add). The last day I ran was the 18th of August (4.8 miles). I took the 19th off. The 20th, Dad called me and asked if I'd ran yet, and I said no. He said he could use some help trimming the hedges at the maze in the City Park. Being the good son I am, I said I would help. Well! You wanna talk about a physically demanding activity, I don't think I have ever sweat so much in 2.5 hours as I did that morning.
He and I spent the morning trimming this monster...there is more to it, but you should be able to get the gist by clicking on the picture. I will say though, my arms were (and still are) a bit sore from hefting the hedge trimmer up, down, and over a 6' tall hedge the size of a quarter city block. And yeah, I'd do it again, Dad.

Saturday the 21st of August, my son Noah and I went to Climb Iowa in Grimes . We spent about 4 hours climbing all over their 10,000 square feet of wall space. Now, THIS is my number one love (yes, even above running). He and I had a great time. We climbed until our arms literally gave out. He is a natural. He is strong, tall, a blast to climb with. We will definitely be going back and hope to take more of the family with us. The gym was relatively empty (maybe 10 people climbing), which made for a very enjoyable experience.
Sunday night, I took our dog Koko for a stroll. I'm sure he didn't see it as such because we did my 5k route. It was about 79 degrees and VERY humid. He was panting pretty hard when we got home, and I was drenched. That ought to teach him to beg me for a walk (a word we don't say out loud around him because he gets VERY excited)...we'll see.
Monday the 23rd was the end of my week off so I decided to do an easy 2.2 miles just to get the weekend kinks worked out. I think it helped. Run time 18:53. Like I said, an easy run. Blood sugar was 68 (fixed that), and max pulse was 156. I need to get back on the streets...
See y'all out there...somewhere.
myk
