Running: 2 Aug 2010 - WOW!

Well, it's the second of August already!  I can't believe I have been at this since the 14th of June already.  I haven't tallied the total number of miles I've ran, but if you have been following me, you might already have done the math (I will later).  I have run three 5k races and one 10k since starting, and have the Cannonball Pump and Run this weekend.  I think by this point I have run 22 times.  That should constitute a "habit."  It must, because I feel guilty when I don't run.  I don't think I have reached "addiction" stage yet, Jeff, but I'll keep at it...

This morning, was (unfortunately) an off day.  God decided to display a little of His almightyness and give us a tremendous dowsing this morning.  There was a steady rain when I woke up to go running, along with thunder and lightning, and when I checked the radar on my phone, I could see there was A LOT more coming.  So I reset my alarms and snuggled back into bed.  By the time I was ready to leave for work, it was a literal deluge.  We got over an inch within an hour.  That means it is going to be humid beyond belief for the next couple days.  We are expecting heat indexes over 100 today and tomorrow.  Heck, we are supposed to have heat indexes over 100 Tuesday night as well.

I'll have to weasel in some road work before Saturday, humidity or not.  I would like to improve my time over my last race (24:01) and most recent workout time of 23:44.  Coach would put the Little Engine That Could mantra in my head, I'm sure.

I can do it...I can do it...I can do it...
