As I woke up this morning, I was sort of wishing for rain. It feels soooo good to sleep sometimes. But, I convinced myself to get out of bed and don my running gear. I checked my blood sugar, and it was 56 again, I believe. So I whipped up some Shaklee Performance and sucked down a good 8 ounces. I then wandered outside and contemplated my upcoming run. After a few moments, I decided it would be a good day to Go to State.
Well Coach, I went and did the whole workout. I couldn't remember if there was supposed to be a set of 50m sprints in there or not (so I left them out). But as otherwise instructed, I ran the 1.1 miles to and from the High School this morning (8:30 & 9:56) - pulse 160 & 156. It was hot as Hades (well, as humid as your Aunt Beaulah's armpits), and the run to the High School was not all that fun. While at the track, I put in:
2x800s (3:21 & 4:07), pulse 168 & 164
2x400s (1:30 & 1:27), pulse 172 & 158
2x200s (:39 & :38), and pulse 164 & 160
2x100s (:17 & :16). 160 & 156
All times are listed by first set and second set. The second set really seemed to kick my butt. I'm guessing the 25g of Performance had pretty much been depleted by then. Although this was a tough workout, I actually sort of like it. I did have to keep telling myself over and over, "I love you, Coach...I love you, Coach. " Even when I felt like I was going to barf..."I love you, Coach..." I figure, it is easier to love your Coach first, then love running rather than the other way around.
I've added a stats link and my last 5 workout results to my blog. It's powered by RunningAHEAD. Give it a try, it's FREE. Tomorrow will be another Madison County Milers run. I think I'll shoot for about 4-5 miles (rain permitting, of course). I've just come to accept that the humidity is gonna be there.
I'll be there too...
myk
