Midnight Madness 2010 is in the books. My first "competitive" 10k is complete. I finished 298th overall and 27th in my age division with a time of 57:30. Dad placed 5th in the 10k and 3rd in the 15k in his division. If you've followed any of this running blog, you will know I am NOT out there to win any of these "races." I am out there to first to finish (not finish first), and second to hopefully improve my time over my last race, and third to not die in the process. I would like to think I help others win these races. Because if I was not out there, they would have no one to beat. So that kinda makes me the winner for being so helpful.

The Midnight Madness run is a 5k and a 10k, or you can run both and combine your time for a 15k. I opted to do the 10k only. That was enough. The 10k route is the 5k ran twice...yuck! There was a decent hill strategically located just where your body really didn't need it. Short on one side and LOOOONG on the other. Yes, there was short periods of walking...sue me. This was also the first time I have ran with music. Good? Bad? Dunno just yet. I will say though, Eminem is great for getting you up a hill.
If I had any beef about the race, it would be why don't the water station people know how far they are from the finish line? I asked two different groups and they looked at me like I was speaking a foreign tongue. Admittedly though, they were foreigners, so maybe it was foreign to them...LOL.
Ok, I'm sore, and need a shower. Then it's off to bed. Take care.

Nice medal! Great pic of you and your dad. Your training and progress have been impressive and I have enjoyed following your blog.
ReplyDeleteSee my 7-14 blog about pace tunes. Is that feasible? Like I said, Eminem pounding in your gourd is great motivation for climbing hills.
