Another Madison County Milers morning. 77 degrees and, you guessed it...humid. Michelle, Angie, me, and Jeff Purdy showed up. Nice to see Jeff again. We started out from Car Quest as usual and headed north on 10th Street. Michelle "cut" me loose after a couple blocks as I stretched out my stride and picked up my pace. As we continued north, I glanced skyward. There was my lunar running partner. She was waning just a bit, still about 90% full, and always, beautiful...even in the morning. I like running with the moon because it helps me keep my head up and my airway open. Otherwise, I tend to let my eyes fall. Like Coach says, your head goes where your eyes go...
I believe we all turned east on Court, each of us running our own pace and route. At Norwood, I decided to add an additional 1.5 miles to my run and headed north to highway 92. There, I made my U-turn. Coming back by the soccer fields, I saw Michelle make her turn back onto 10th St. Just before I turned south on 9th, Jeff drove by. His foot must still be bothering him a bit so he must have cut his run short. As I entered the City Park, I passed Angie as she exited. I made the half mile loop, noticing a couple fawns laying up by the maze. When I exited the park, I just stayed on 9th all the way down to Lane, hung a right and a left, and finished back at Car Quest.
Total distance this morning was 5.8 miles. Run time - 44:30. Pulse two minutes after - 156. Blood sugar - 95. I had some Shaklee Performance before and a bit after. I love the stuff. I have also been having a Shaklee Meal Shake the mornings that I run. I put a cup or so of skim milk, ice, frozen blueberries, frozen cranberries, a banana (either raw or frozen chunks), and 4 or 5 baby carrots, and a quarter cup of the meal shake in the Vita-Mix and blend it until it is thick. Yummmmm. And healthy. It is about the same amount of carbs that I get when I eat cereal. And a whole lot better for me.
I won't be able to make the Balloon Festival 5k on Friday due to work and logistics, so I better get my entry form for Winterset's 11th Annual Cannonball Pump & Run filled out and sent in. Hey, hope to see you there. If not, maybe somewhere down a stretch of road running...
myk
