Running: 23 June 2010 - ^%@#$&!

OK, let me make this one announcement: I DO NOT LIKE RUNNING!  I thought about HATE, but hate is such a strong word.  Well, maybe I do.  What is it about running that people enjoy?  I mean really?  Sweating through every stitch of clothing, showering and coming out STILL sweating; feeling like your lungs are gonna blow through your upper torso; pelvis, lower back, and (since I'm in a WEEEEE bit of pain today) ass hurting so bad they are numb...Oh yeah baby, that's enjoyable...
Today I ventured out again at about 6:10 or so.  This time I was running in Satan's Sauna and tempting Tesla's folly.  Whatever had blown through this morning I was on its heels...and I was running in it.  Pace was good.  It felt good.  Steady smack, smack, breathe, breath, smack, smack, exhale, exhale.  I took the same route from last week's 5k.  Time was not as good as last week - 29:12.  I did walk a bit again today (not too much though).  It was hard to stay motivated, but I added a little extra in at the end...a couple more blocks for good measure.  Pulse: 168.

Breakfast was not appealing - not really hungry; glucose 106 prior to running.  And although Johnsonville Brats are fantastic, they should NOT be eaten within 12 hours of running.  Plus, this euphoria thing needs to get here soon.  How on earth am I gonna be able to run a 20k at this rate?

Oh yeah...wanna venture a guess WHO left both his truck windows open last night....?  :(

On down the road...

  1. Running...My favorite thing to do...It is because there is nothing in the world that can bother you...it is just you and your path. A way to clear your thoughts for even a moment. And, remember if there is no pain, there is no gain.

  2. Well Anonymous, I appreciate your insight. If the addage holds, then I stand to gain A GREAT deal. Lots of thoughts on the road to change. The question is, how to remain focused on what your heart truly desires as you travel along that painful path. What CAN the human condition endure before running into a wall? Thank you for your support. myk
