Running: 2 July 2010 - 2nd Race 1 day away...

Once again, another very nice morning for running.  Light breeze, mid 60's, still had the moon as my running partner.  It's a little more faithful at this than I seem to be, but I'm working on it.  Nothing major today.  Just kind of started off down the street.  I didn't want to run too hard or too far (LOL), but I knew if I didn't run this morning, the day and night would come and go and suddenly, I'd find myself in Earlham tomorrow morning wishing like heck I'd have ran today.  So, off I went...

South on N 1st Ave to Summit, a little left and right jog to the hospital (no, I wasn't going there...just running past.  Kinda like in Monopoly when you land on the just visiting square that happens to also be the In-Jail square).  Anyway, another left turn on 4th Ave and over past the High School.  Made a right on 8th Ave and went alllllll the way to Buchannan and hung a right and back East to N 1st Ave and home.  According to Google Earth (as both vehicles were in use when I got home), I did 2.7 miles.  22:54...rather slow pace.  Maybe I should remeasure later.  Pulse was a nice 124.  Either my recovery times are getting better, or I am actually starting to get in shape?

Here's an interesting little bit of info.  I was getting a haircut the other day, telling Ashley (the wonderfully insightful girl who cuts my hair) about my running and told her about the Lead Fairy who seems to invade my feet and legs every night.  She said, "are you doing any weight training?"  Now, I don't know if she is/was a runner, but I sat there a minute and thought about what she said.  I said, "no."  And she said, "well, there ya go..."  Hmmm, it had never dawned on me to do weight training for running, but it makes a whole lot of sense.  Better add that to the mix...

Next post should be sometime after the Firecracker 5k tomorrow.
Have a great 4th of July weekend everyone...

myk
